Like many other people I had my 'gaming period' in life. And as with any other period in my life, it involved programming. I still find it intriguing to mess with the inner parts of a game server or engine, but I have less time and motivation to do it nowadays.
The former Israeli Gamers Club is where I used to be an administrator, during the period that I played Counter-Strike.
I managed the club server, as well as developed many of the systems that were used. Most notable was the IGCGuard anti-cheat system, the various in-game server side plugins, and the website-to-game-server integration and management.
The club servers were regarded as a place of high quality players, as we used to track the members and were very successful at keeping offenders away.
It closed, though, after interest was lost among most of the administration and members aroung the time CS 1.6 was released.
United Admins is now a corporation, but it wasn't so when I was part of it.
It used to be a server admin community, and it embraced CSBot (see below) and allowed me to reach a bigger audience with it, as well as contribute back to the community that helped me from time to time.
Too bad that now it is a for-profit corporation, and I couldn't escape the feeling that someone was trying to make a buck at the expense of good-hearted volunteers. I eventually quit, and this was also much of the reason CSBot development was stopped.
